Jamie's Diary Entries

Diary Navigation:

March 18, 2003

Camryn has begun saying Da, da, da, da and pronouncing other consonant sounds. Camryn is such a charmer that you just cannot help but fall in love with her peaceful nature. Camryn is totally and completely enthralled in her spinner. Each time we put her in it, she get so excited to see all of her toys she kicks and spins twice just so she can inventory everything she has to play with. I think she loves the independence of being upright, her favorite position, and is free to turn and twist and play with whatever she wants.

Hannah will turn “2” on Thursday, and I can hardly believe that I am going to be the mother of a two year old. So far, we seem to be entering the age rather gracefully! Maybe it will continue to be so easy—I can dream! Hannah gets smarter each day, and continues to amaze us. She is a very witty little person and definitely has her own mindset about the way she would like things done.

We plan on having her birthday party at the park, if the weather cooperates, with all of her closest friends. We will be serving pizza and cake, and I really think Hannah will enjoy it. The theme is springtime, butterflies, and flowers. Her cake will be the shape of a daisy with a ladybug on one of the petals. Since we are in a new house, this year, we decided to build Hannah a swing set for her birthday gift. Gary and the grandpa’s built it last weekend, and we have had to pry Hannah off of it each evening when it starts getting dark. Hannah loves being outside, so I think our choice could not be more appropriate for her. I hope she will continue to enjoy it for years to come.

Hannah and Camryn have both started sleeping through the night in their beds! Gary and I hardly know what to do with ourselves, we are so rested and refreshed. Spring has Sprung! We try not to get to excited about it, because then I might start thinking about having a third! We had to let Camryn fuss, for a bit, but she did fine, I was the one that needed to be consoled. I think these changes will work wonders for our household. Everyone seems to feel so much better in the morning.

On potty training, Hannah decided she was not really ready at this point, so we will wait until she begins to have more of an interest in it. I am thankful that she showed signs at an early age; hopefully, she will be potty trained before long.

I would like to note here the joy that Gary and I get out of seeing that we make our children happy. Nothing else in the world compares to knowing that our children our happy and thriving with what we provide for them. I don’t mean this completely for material things, although Gary and I are very proud that we are able to provide our girls with toys and swing sets. I think I am so proud of the way that we have grown into becoming parents. We enjoy nurturing our children more than we ever thought possible. We look forward to Sesame Street Specials and school parties; I think I will thrive on ballet lessons and soccer practice. We enjoy the simple things that Hannah and Camryn are so amazed with (i.e. Sunsets, spring flowers, mud puddles, evening walks). No other job in the world could equate to love and admiration we have for our children. We love them more than we love ourselves, and it continues to grow!
I have received an offer for a new job. So far, I am pretty indifferent to it. I am thankful that it is more money, but am not really overjoyed about it. I will continue in my field of Human Resources, and it will be somewhat of a promotion, so I welcome that. I am excited about my boss, she seems to be very nice, and she has a 20 month old, so I think that she and I will have common ground. With that being said, I am closing my journal on I Parenting.

Blessings to all,
Jamie
