I didn't have plans for today because I wasn't sure how tired and exhausted everyone would be after the wedding reception. My mom let me sleep until about 10:30am and I was disappointed that I slept so long, but at the same time, I was VERY tired having gone to bed at 2am the night before. (And, yes, I DID have a hang-over the next morning!)

My dad and I were supposed to do something fun together, but were summoned to help tear down the equipment from the reception with some of Raquel's friends at the Gardens. (Wasn't really my choice of things to do on my vacation, but we had fun.) Not only was it hot, but also I wore jeans and we were mostly outside loading speakers and heavy sound equipment into cars. At one point, I had to sit down inside with ice cold water because I thought I was going to pass out. I think I might have dropped about, oh say, 5 pounds that very afternoon!!!

My dad and I did some more after-the-wedding errands that afternoon and returned back home for a rest in the cool of the apartment. (Man, it was hot!!!!) Later, my dad and I took a late afternoon walk down to a place called the Haas Promenade, which is a beautiful promenade that overlooks all of Jerusalem. It's only about a mile from my parents' house so it's perfect to walk to. Of course, I brought my camera with me, which had black and white film it. I wanted pictures of Jerusalem in black and white. I thought it would make it interesting. My dad and I finally had a chance to discuss how he was REALLY doing since the bus bombing. With all the wedding plans and the stress of the happy event, he had not had a chance to think about it in awhile. I could tell, though, that he was still dealing with the reality of day-to-day life after the bombing and that it has been really hard on him. Hearing about the bombing had scared me so badly that I just wanted to spend as much time with my dad as I possibly could on this trip.

That evening, A. called me again to go out. I was so happy that I could spend this much time with her. We went to an outdoor cafe and sat and talked for hours on end. It was wonderful! Since she needed some gifts for family and friends, we went shopping in an outdoor area that was lovingly called the "Hippie Market" by all the kids in Jerusalem. The vendors sell rings, earrings, body jewelry, and many other things. It used to be the hang out when I was a teenager but because tourism is down so much, the Hippie Market is not half what it used to be. I could tell A. was as disappointed as I was. Even though the amount of product has diminished, I still found a silver ring that I just could not live without. I did my very best “bartering” for it. It was close to $10 and I brought it down to about $6. I was very proud of myself. While we were out, my friend M. called me on the cell to make plans to go to the beach the next day. A. was to join us as well. I made plans with the 2 of them without discussing it with my parents. I didn't realize that my mom had made plans for my dad, Raquel, Sic, and I the next day.

Stay tuned and find out where I got to go!
