Eloise's Diary Entries

Hello again if anyone ever comes by still...

Well, so much for regular up-dates! How ridiculous that I can't seem to get to the computer for months, let alone tap a coherent sentence or two onto it. Well i'm here for a minute so let's see if I can write something...no matter how little or how drab or how incoherent...

Scarlet Poppy is NINE MONTHS OLD and totally, utterly, unbelievably DELICIOUS!

Oh how I love my little Poppy-girl! She is crawling and pulling up on all the furniture and has perpetual bruises on her forehead because she is forever falling down and whacking herself on said furniture. She is determined and knows no fear and really REALLY thinks she should be able to walk when in reality she can only just crawl. But the only reason she crawls is to get to something that she can pull to standing on...she loves to stand...she LIVES to stand and her most favouritest game in the world is to hold something (a little toy or whatever) in one hand and precariously stand - legs wide apart and wobbling - whilst holding on to the furniture with the other hand. Then she hoots and hollers and thinks she is the cleverest baby in the whole wide world....which she is, let's face it! :^)

She's not sleeping well. Big problems since she started to stand, because now she won't lay down in the cot but stands up holding the bars and screaming! SIGH! She rolls over in her sleep and automatically finds herself sitting then standing then yelling!!! HUMPH! I have to hold her and rock her in the rocking chair until she's asleep, and she only sleeps for one 30-50 minute sleep cycle because this damn standing-compulsion keeps waking her up! She wakes 2-3 times a night calling for assistance (usually in the form of boob-juice) and I'm buggered if I can graciously handle so much sleep disruption. We even shipped her out of our bed and into her own room (right next to ours) in an attempt to quell the ever-increasing night calls. Pixie wasn't shipped out of our room until she was FOUR years old, so this shows just how desperate we'd become. Moving her has definitely cut out at least one night-call, and it's SO NICE to be able to fling my arms around in my sleep without worrying about grumpy bubby pushing me around (she was developing a fondness for kicking me in the back during the night! Babies are very bossy creatures to share a bed with!)

She has a mop of dark silky hair, the brightest, darkest blue eyes, the most infectious giggle and a big beaming smile that she will happily serve up to almost anyone who smiles at her. She wins hearts on almost every expedition out into the world such a bright smiley girl she is!!

Oh, and she has said her first word at the tender age of nine months. Just like Pixie, her first word is "Allo" ...probably because we are forever saying "hallo" to her in a bright chirpy voice and grinning at her...now she says it back and grins her smart little head off...she has us all laughing, Pixie thinks it's hilarious and tells everyone we ever meet that Scarlet can say hello...of course nobody believes her and Scarlet isn't interested in displaying her tricks to the rest of the world just yet...

Scarlet is a HUGE eater. She's a tiny little girl but she eats and eats and eats. She loves almost everything, and even if she's not too keen on a food she'll eat it anyway. She absolutely LOVES going on picnics because all the food is on the rug in front of her and she will sit there all afternoon eating her way through everything in sight. She especially loves whole plums and the enormous sticky mess she can get herself into whilst eating them. She has her two bottom and two top teeth already and she is a nasty little biter so you have to watch it when she snuggles her head into your arm or shoulder...she'll invariably leave you with a nasty bite and a bruise.

OH how I LOVE being the mother of TWO girls.I cannot sing it's praises enough. It is simply SO EXCITING to go out and about in the world and have TWO decidedly gorgeous and curious little beings in your charge. It is so exciting to have another little girl to show the world too, and now Pixie is five she is blossoming into a super friendly, more confident and stable CHILD! She is great fun and loves Scarlet...is a little rough with her still but not intentionally...and has no displayed a moment's jealously toward her little sister. She loves her, wants to grab her all the time (which Scarlet doesn't want to submit too!), and is forever 'playing' being pregnant and having her own baby (just like Scarlet because Scarlet is "sooooooooo cute!"). Pixie gives birth with a loud grunt, wears her 'baby' in a silk sling, pulls up her shirt up to breast-feed, and we have to all be quiet when her 'baby' is sleeping. Ha!
Ha!

It's a steaming hot night....we're all sweating it out through our usual January heat-waves...38 degrees Celsius today...fourth day of heat...when Scarlet and I breastfeed we fuse together in a puddle of sweat...UGH!

Anyway, gotta go...I can hear a cup of tea and some chocolate licorice calling me incessantly....it's really seting up a din, I gotta go...

Happy New Year to y'all,

Love Eloise.
