I can't believe the year is coming to an end! This year has went by so fast. So much has happened. So many things to be thankful for.
Christmas was very nice. We went to my parents house, stayed the night. Though Don, my step dad and I stayed up late. Tried to sleep in a full size bed with me, Don and Noah. That didn't work very well. Morning came and I heard my sister voice, "Sarah, Austin go wake Aunt Tia up!" As I am trying to sleep, I thought Oh God, please don't wake me yet! Yep, here comes my oldest son and my niece. Wake up mom, Wake up Aunt Tia. And a kiss follows that awakening from my son. Though I wanted to sleep for a little while longer. What better way to wake on Christmas morning but by a kiss from your own child.
Don said he was awake at 5 am, couldn't sleep so he went to the basement to watch tv. He said about 45 minutes later he hears pitter pats of little feet upstairs. Yes the children woke early. My niece came down to Don and said," Hi Uncle Donnie! I asked GiGi for a Easy Bake Oven, I hope I get it." The first words out of her mouth that morning and Don said he laughed. Kids! ;-)
Once everyone was awake we went downstairs and proceded to open gifts, kids first then the adults. I like it that way. You can enjoy the children opening presents, the surprised and happy looks on thier faces. It is priceless. Before opening gifts we gave thanks to our Lord for everything he has done and given us, especially Don's health. That was a major blessing this year. Just to have him with us, and healthy.
Gift after gift was opened, Sarah got her oven and was tickled pink about it. Austin got so much and loved it all. Though after the presents were all opened he was a little disappointed Santa didn't get him the one thing he asked for, a game cube. But we reminded him there were gifts at our house from Santa. He gave us a smile and said it's ok if I don't get it. Though you know as a parent he REALLY wanted that game cube. He walked off with new toys in hand and played his little heart out.
Funny story about Austin:
A couple weeks before Christmas he was acting up a little too much for our taste and so we told him that naughty boys and girls get coal and sticks in their stockings, and he said "and clothes too!" Haaa! So as my mom was handing out gifts on Christmas morning, Austin was unwrapping and it was item after item of clothing. He just looked at everyone with this look of "man clothes?!!" Don and I laughed under out breath.
Noah was all into the gifts this year. His favorite thing was his toy firetruck that makes lovely noise as it zooms across the floor and his big stuffed Nemo fish. Oh my, he is WAY protective over his Nemo. He will cry if someone else is holding it.
As mom and dad, we got stuff we needed and asked for. Mostly stuff for the kitchen, dishes, silverware, etc. Also Don got me a DVD of Freaky Friday. He got a couple DVDs.
When we got home there were a few gifts from Santa under our tree. Austin just looked at the gift, shaped like a square and said, "I KNOW WHAT THAT IS!" With a huge grin on his face. Yes he loved it and wants to play it all day. Not that we let him, but if he could he would play all day on that thing. He also got an extra game besides the one that came with it. He got pac man 2 disc game. Ok, the whole family loves this game. Takes Don and I back to our childhood. This pac man is much better than the old. Don and a friend was up till 2 am this morning playing it. Sheesh!
Well we are starting to attend church at a different place starting tonight. Actually we went here about 3 years ago till we ended up at a different church. I have to say I can't wait to go back to this church. It has all we could ask for in services plus some. The childrens department is so awesome, the adult services a great, praise and worship is awesome. There is so much at this place, and the people are great. They are also have a concert tonight, Salvador is playing. CAN'T WAIT! Don and I can't wait to start attending here again. I really think Noah is going to love the classroom he will be in, so much for children to do.
We are going to a friends house for New Years Eve. Just some of us hanging out, watching tv, laughing up the silly things we all did over the past year.
Happy New Year Everyone!
Christa
