Christa's Diary Entries

December 22, 2003

Three more day till Christmas. WOW! Already got our plans for Christmas Eve and Day. Last night I took Austin and went with some friends to Silver Dollar City to see the lights, ride the train and see Santa. Yeah, that didn't go as planned! Oh we did all but see Santa. Just imagine the disappointment on a childs face when you get to santa's shop and a lady tells you santa is not seeing anymore kids because "he wants to make sure there is enough gifts for the kids." Ok first my son says, "mom does this mean I don't get a gift from santa?" UGH! I wanted to slap the lady then go yell at Santa! I told Austin there will be a gift from Santa, and we would sit down today and write Santa a letter. Just like momma did when she was a little girl.

When we took the train ride, I was snapping pictures and Austin would turn to me and say, "MOM! That is hurting my eyes!" And give me this look. I kind of chuckled at him. He knows how I am with my camera. I LOVE taking pictures. Later we went to the candle shop and looked around at all the great smelling candles. My other favorite thing, candles! Austin got to take a double candle and dip it in the hot wax to make his own colored candle. So cute! It is 2 toy soldiers. It is now hanging by the computer desk.

Christmas Eve we are having a small dinner here at our place with my in laws. Open gifts from them and give gifts. Then that night go to my moms and stay the night and spend Christmas day with them. Eat a feast of a meal. Mom and dad always go all out on Christmas dinner.

Today is the first day of Christmas break for Austin. Grandma is coming and getting the boys and keeping them till tomorrow night. This will give me time to box some stuff up, move it to the new place, do some gift wrapping. Yes, I still have to wrap the gifts. I figured if I did it earlier Noah would have them all unwrapped by now. He has Christmas ornaments strung all over the house. Hopefully next year he will leave the tree alone.

I have almost finished painting the townhouse. People think I am crazy for doing this. I could have waited for Don to have the painters come in and do it, but I like painting. Though now every muscle in my body is aching! OUCH! I only have the main bathroom to do. The new vinyl is being layed on the 6th. I can't wait to see it. They are even laying it in the dining room. Our last townhome had carpet in the dining area. I hated that, cause kids and adults spill things and then you have a stain on the carpet. Red colors don't come out of beige carpet! So the vinyl is a grand thing for me. The kids have the playstation hooked to a tv in the basement and love going down there and playing. You can hear them giggling and having a fun time. Hopefully the middle of the month we can move in. So time to find boxes and start packing what we don't use on a daily basis. I am ready to be all moved in NOW. I can't wait for the extra room. YEAH! And Austin is excited to go back to that school.
