Christa's Diary Entries

November 20, 2003

Man this month has gone by so fast. We just celebrated Austin's 7th birthday last Saturday. It was a small party. Just the grandparents and us. He did get his Incredible Hulk cake though. My mom made the cake this year. Homemade all the way down to the icing. She loves to bake. Austin got an Incredible Hulk figure, a race track, a stop light for his room, bey blade, nintendo chair, a new VCR, the movie Finding Nemo, clothes, and a few other things. He still has gifts coming from a friend that was out of town last weekend. But all in all he had a good day that day. He sure is growing up, and I am amazed at how the time has flown by these past 7 years. Austin makes me and Don so proud. People compliment us on a good job raising him. We are not perfect but proud of our boys. We try our best and that is what counts. Austin is excited for the upcoming play at school. The kids are doing a Thanksgiving play and he is excited to have a roll in it. He already has his line memorized and asking us each day if we will be there. Haa! Wouldn't miss it for the world! Last year we ran so late I left the camera AND camcorder at home. I was SO mad at myself for that. This year it is all ready to go for next week. Won't forget it this time!

Austin has been on his meds for almost a week, we have to give it 2 weeks and if no change I have to call the doctor and let her know so we can change it. I will talk with the teacher next week to see if there is any change at school. Don and I both have notice Austin has spells of talking 90 miles an hour. More so than before. And the doctor said he may have insomnia. Well, she was right. Usually he is either already sacked out at 8 or we get him in be by 9 and he is out in 10 minutes. Now we catch him sneaking in the living room at 10, 11 o'clock at night. Not like him to stay up that late during the week. His appetite has decreased some too. All things the doctor said may happen. But he is still eatting well.

Noah is one bossy little boy. Sheesh! I was on the phone one morning while my mother in law was here and I heard her tell Noah, "little stinker you sure are bossy." I kind of laughed under my breath and then out of Noah's mouth comes "I bossy!" Oh my sweet 2 year old has a large vocabulary. He keeps growing and growing. I can't even begin to list the things he can say. He does realize now he can't crawl up on Don's chest. So who does he go to to bounce on like a trampoline? ME! I laugh at him, he is a comical child.

Don is recovering really well. He has asked his nurse 2 times now if he can go back to work part time. Tells her he has a desk job. I chuckle cause I know she is going to tell him no. Her answer is always " slim to none chance, heavy on the none." I like her. Ha Ha! We all keep telling him even though it is hard as crap to sit around the house he has to give his body time to heal. He goes to the doctor the 4th of next month and then, just maybe the doctor will release him for part time work. A few hours a day with assistance. He has lost almost 40 pounds now. I am so proud/happy for him. The weight he has lost is so good for him. And he feels so much better with it gone. Now for me to lose more weight. I am still searching for low sodium recipes. I do have to say that the company Don works for is AWESOME! They have brought so much food, or gift certificates to restaurants. We even got a gift card to the video store, which Don used in a weekend. The company is a family based one and it shows too!

Well I have lost 9 pounds, and wanting alot more off. School is going good, though I have only been once this week, due to no sitter. I am having a little fit lately with this apartment. Too much crap of ours and not enough space. So yesterday I started "spring cleaning" in November. Things are going bye-bye! I need organization!!!!

Thanksgiving is right around the corner, and this year we are having the dinner at our place. Yeah the place I just complained about the amount of space. Am I crazy? Depends on the day, haha. But since Don can only go for short car rides and all the family lives out of town we are having it here. It will just be the 4 of us and my mother and father in laws. My parents have company coming to their house so they can't make it. But it will be fun, we will eat, laugh, and that evening set up the tree, and plan a shopping strategy for the next day. My parents call the Friday after Thanksgiving, Black Friday. I am sure lots of others call it the same. But I am one to shop that day. My major present this year is to have my husband home, safe, healthy and alive. It is the best thing I could get.

Anyone know of any good low sodium recipes? Please post on my TTM board if you do.

Happy Thanksgiving!

Christa
