Carmajo's Diary Entries

Diary Navigation:

October 31, 2003

This is going to be an "out of order" diary entry. I had planned on doing a few seperate diary entries from when Rob and I met until Adrianna's birthstory but I have not had a chance to sit down and write a short version that is not a repeat entry from my pregnancy or breastfeed diary. Sorry!

Happy Halloween to everyone! I just love to cruise through diaries viewing everyone's children in their costumes. Adrianna dressed up as Tigger from Winnie the Pooh. It was the best possible costume for her age. She did not mind the hood being pulled up and no "frilly" items for her to pull off. We "Trick & Treated" at both Grandparents house and Adrianna was tuckered out by 8 pm. It is so hard to let her accept candy knowing she cannot have it because half of everything has peanuts in it. How do you make a 20 month old understand she can't have the chocolate mini candy bar her cousins also have? I did alot of "stealing and replacing" from her pumpkin. Before she could realize it this morning all the chocolate had been given to Daddy to share at work. I saved the iced sugar cookies from Grandma to munch on the next few days.

A First on Halloween!
I know I may seem like a un-fun mother but Adrianna has never had Kool-Aid before last night. Rob's mother brought her a blue Kool-Aid individual drink. I can't for my life think of what they are called. Anyway, I let Adrianna drink it. I figured it is her first real beggars night to enjoy the festivities so what they heck. She really enjoyed it along with the 5 lbs of sugar she consumed she began the night of hyperness.

Speech and new words
Adrianna is an avid "binky lover!" We have a plan to take them away at Easter next year explaining to her the Easter bunny will pick them up from her Easter basket. I know that sound terrible but I am hoping she will understand it more by the time she turns 2 years old.
Anyway, We have started to hide the binkies to encourage Adrianna to say more words rather than mumbling from behind the binky. Her vocabulary consists of the following:
Mommy
Daddy
binky
shoes
cheese
juice
tree
truck
dj (cousin)
drew (cousin)
mamaw
pease (only heard a few times)
tick or teet
uck (referring to her feet and everything she throws in the trash)
a,b,c
1,2,3 (only mommy & daddy can understand her abc and 123)
and of course her ultimate favorite word I had to save for last:
NO!
Is this a pretty normal amount of words for a 20 month old? I try to read to her every day but she is such a "busy body" that she will only stay sitting for a few pages.
Am I worried for nothing?

Congratulations to all the new pregnant woman on Pregnancy Diaries!

Have a great "Fall" weekend!
