"Monkey Adrianna"
Adrianna is now 18 months going on 2 years old. We are past the tantrum stage and on to new things. Adrianna will climb on anything and everything. I found her standing on top of the back of the loveseat watching Rob mow the lawn. My neighbors or anyone passing by must have thought I am a wonderful Mother. Her other favorite "mountains" to climb are on top of the toy box (which has not lid so she is standing on top of a mound of toys), the changing table (which I use to store junk in the toy room) and now the coffee table. I must confess my daughter is a table dancer. Just kidding, she loves to sit on the coffee table and watch the Wiggles.
Along with all of this climbing her favorite animal noise is now the monkey. She is so adorable!
*Night wakings*
I have come to the conclusion that our daughter is just not a good sleeper. Her sleep patterns are set for now and we are having to deal with it. For jumping over board reasons, Adrianna is now in her toddler bed so I cannot let her cry when she wakes up. If I do then she will throw herself down on the hardwood floor and I don't want her to hurt herself. We have our good nights of 8 hours of sleep so I will just be happy with that for now.
"Please hide the b-o-t-t-l-e-s"
The word bottle is not spoken in our house. We have had to spell it for a long time to avoid a fit until she gets her ba-ba. I am happy to report at 18 months Adrianna has forgotten about the bottle. Just like her weaning it has gone very smoothly. I had one lapse this past Friday when she fell and hit her head. I folded and gave her a bottle to soothe her pain. I know she is way too old for that but it worked. I boxed up all her bottles and sterilizer last night to store will all my unused baby items. It was a sad moment to think my little girl is flying past all these stages so quickly :(
Milk vs. lactose free milk vs. Soy milk
We have tried everything. Adrianna had a milk allergy when she was first born. I had to cut out all dairy from my diet since I was nursing. It helped so when we first introduced formula at 8 months I ended up trying Carnation Good Start and she did fine on it even though it is milk based. I guess it is true baby's can grow out of milk allergies or sensativity. Anyway we have been battling diarrhea for months. I switched to lactose free milk with no results and have now tried soy milk.
Neither has made a drastic difference in her bowel movements except the frequency. I was changing 4-5 bm diapers a day on milk and now we are down to 2-3. Nice conversation huh? If anyone is bored enough to read this do you think lactose intolerance could be it?
Adrianna + kiki the cat = no good
Adrianna has been bitten 5 times by my SIL's cat. My SIL is Adrianna's daycare provider. Bad situation huh? We had a very awkward and stressful week when this happened the last time. I know my SIL takes very good care of my daughter and loves her like her own child but her cat's opinion differs. After a few arguments, awkward conversations, visits to licensed daycares and my DH intervening we hopefully have a workable solution and Adrianna will not come home with a cat bit on her arm again. In the midst of this we found out mixing business and family is not good. It would have been much easier for me to say "hey Adrianna will not be back" and "sorry I will have to report this bite to the animal control" if they weren't family. I know that sounds really cruel but that is how I felt at the time. The cat is know staying in the laundry room while Adrianna is there. I hope this works for my daughters sake.
NYC here I come....
In less than 3 months I will be taking my first trip without Adrianna. I am going on a bus trip with my MIL and two SIL's to New York City for 3 nights 4 days. I am so excited yet nervous to think I won't be able to cuddle with Adrianna before bed.
I know I need this trip very badly. I can't wait to shop, eat and breathe NY.
We are staying at the Riverside Tower Hotel. Has anyone ever been there or have any tourist advice for me?
Iparenting Product Review
I have signed up to do the Iparenting product review. I am so excited to introduce new toys and products to Adrianna.
I can't wait to see what her reaction is and compare it to other children. At her stage right now she loves anything she can pretend to put a diaper on, feed a bottle and give hugs to. I am sure I will have lots of fun reviewing the products and sharing our opinion.
Heading out West in 2004....
We have decided to take the plunge and move to California. We have to sell our house, wait for the lease to end on our Mustang and pack one huge moving van and head to southern CA. Rob is going to work for his Dad at his motorcycle shop. I am going to have to return to work at least part time or maybe full time to obtain benefits for health insurance. I also need 2 1/2 years of service in the Public Employees Retirement System to have the 10 year credit for health insurance at retirement. I am hoping to find another job in a court system but will consider law enforcement dispatching or records if need be. I am just excited for the climate change. According to the farmers' almanac Ohio is in for one bad winter. My last one hopefully!
I will leave you will a question:
1. Does anyone know of a US company or website where I can buy Wiggles toys and costumes? The offical websites ships items from Australia and who wants those additional fees?!
Happy early Fall!
