Carmajo's Diary Entries

Diary Navigation:

September 7, 2005

I am so sorry I have not been updating regularly but my life has been like a 3 ring circus complete with the house of mirrors.
Let me start by explaining, in one ring I have my Dad back in Ohio who had open heart surgery done with 5 bypasses two weeks ago today. Adrianna and I flew home last minute, red-eye to be with my Mom during his surgery. We stayed a week to visit so our tickets would not be $650 a piece.
On this traveling note I will say that Adrianna was such the perfect little traveler. I cannot even begin to count how may nice compliments we received while flying. I was so proud of her and rewared her with a "real" Dora the Explorere backpack.
My Dad did marvelous in recovering from his surgery. He is getting his strength back by walking with my Mom and trying to change his diet. I am so thankful I got to go home and be there for my family. Thank you Rob!

In the second ring I have my job hunting. As most of you know I am returning to work full time here in California. The cost of living here just isn't friendly enough to allow me to stay at home. I have been in the process of getting a job with the Riverside County Sheriff's Office as a dispatcher. I just finished my medical exam this past Thursday. Providing that I pass the through background investigation I will be gainfully employed by Sept. 27th which is my 7th Wedding Anniversary.
In a little sub-ring I have been juggling another job prospect that just sounds so cool with another Police Department. I had an interview this past Thursday. In my personal words, "I bombed it!" BUT for some reason they passed me on to the final 3 applicants to fill 1 position. This job is much closer of a drive so I just could not give it up.

In the third ring I am working on potty training, vocabulary development and finding the suitable child care enviornment for my daughter. The potty training is going very slow. I made a reward chart to hang in the bathroom for her to adorn her stickers each time she uses the "big girl" potty. That lost it's glamour after a few days. I am trying to take it slowly at Adrianna's pace and not force it.
I had a followup speech evaluation done here in California by Early Start. As I previously wrote while still in Ohio, Adrianna has a mild speech delay. The therapist reccomended another evaluation when we were settled here in CA. We could not be happier with Adrianna's progress.
She is throwing new words out at us each day. Now if we could just get rid of the darn binky forever!
The daycare issue is my most worrisome of all. We started Adrianna in 2 days a week Kinder Care a few weeks ago to check it out basically. The first week was great! She loved it! Then with the week at my parents it has her so mixed up to the point where she doesn't want me to leave her side. I know it is seperation anxiety and it is killing me worse than her. UGH!
I don't think daycare is going to be such an issue when I start working because she won't be in daycare longer than 5 hours. We are leaning towards in home daycare with a friend I met in our apartment complex. I am going to talk to her again about it but I think this will work out better with us only needing daycare from 2p-6p. Everything is up in the air until I start working and see how it is going to go. Who knows, I might end up back at home.

Mirrors, they can be so deceiving can't they? I have gained 8 lbs since moving. I know it is because I am home all day snacking with Adrianna. I am constantly watching the Food Network cooking shows. I am a Rachael Ray fanatic! 30 Minute Meals is the best! Did you know you can go on the Food Network website and find all her receipes? I love to make new meals! Not good for my figure though! I have been trying to walk every night even if it's just with Adrianna on her big wheel.
I must saying chasing a 2 year old around the house all day just doesn't burn the calories any more. DARN!

I hate to cut this short but I have lots of housework to do before I pick up Adrianna.
Before I forget, Congratulations to Corrine from Mom's Today on her pregnancy announcement. Her son Cameron was born right around the same time as Adrianna. I look forward to reading her diary entries, as she is such a good writer with great topics.

Till the next time,

Carmajo
