March 26th 2004
Adrianna is 2 years old going on 12 already.
She is blossoming into such a big girl.
It is amazing how all of a sudden she answers "yes" or "no" correctly instead of "no" for everything. Adrianna is also saying "thank you" and "thank you mama."
She really surprised us, or should I say shocked us last week when she told me "I boss!" I had to turn away to keep from laughing because she was doing it meanly while pointing to her eyes. It all started from dh and I telling her "no" for something. Isn't it amazing what kids pick up? And yes I have told her "mommy is the boss" before during a mommy-adrianna power struggle.
Adrianna is picking out her own clothes now.
It is really funny sometimes dressing her.
Her favorite outfits to wear are her Dora the Explorer pj's. She will wear them morning, noon and night. Today she wore her Dora nightgown with a onsie underneath and pink sweatpants and purple tennis shoes on. I let her wear it to the babysitters and boy was she proud. We are going shopping this weekend for some real Dora clothes so we can give the pj's a break.
Adrianna still has not gained any weight since her 2 year well check. I am to take her back in 4 weeks for a weight check because of her growth curve or drop in the weight percentile. She dipped from 95th to 45th in a year time. I am not really concerned because I know she eats well. She is weighing in at 26 lbs right now and does not look malnourished.
DH is going out of town this week for training. I am really worried about how Adrianna will react to Daddy not coming home each night. We are so set in our routine that I know she will be fighting me each night for Daddy. I have bought some extra special snacks for Mommy & Adrianna to share. I also bought cookie dough to bake Easter cookies. I am hoping distract her with fun cooking, arts and crafts and visits to Grandma. Wish me luck!
We made our first move today toward selling our house. I made an appointment with a realtor to get it listed next week. I am hoping the recent digging in our front yard to replace gas lines on our street will not deter too many potential buyers. We are hoping to have our house sold and relocated before summer.
Adrianna is recovering for a stomach bug! We have had 2 nights of vomiting all night long accompanied by fevers. Seeing you child sick has to be the worst thing ever since you can't do anything to make it stop right away.
****ABOUT ME****
I really enjoyed fellow diary writer Kelly's list of things you probably don't know about her so I thought I would share a few things about me. Maybe one day Adrianna will read this list also.
I do believe there is *one* true love for everyone.
I met my *true love* and *soul mate* on a blind date.
My late Grandmother Opal Irene French and Grandmother Patricia Huffman both made the most profound impact on my life. I miss them so much.
I sat beside and held the hand of my Grandma Huffman while she took her last breath.
I made the most terrible decision when I was 21 years old that I will never be able to take back.
I am a very independent person.
I lived on my own from the age 20 while only making $6.00 an hour and working a second job.
I used to be an avid country line dancer.
I am constantly changing my hairstyle.
I saved a woman's life while working as a 911 operator.
I was given a 15% chance of ever getting pregnant without IVF. I became pregnant the very next month after that consult the natural way.
I chose my daughter's name long before I ever thought I would be a Mother.
I love Mexican food. I long to lounge on the beach in Playa Del Carmen, Mexico.
My favorite cartoon is Dora the Explorer although I am still a fluent Wiggles singer and dancer.
My favorite breakfast food is waffles or pancakes. I cook them for Adrianna every morning.
I had a short-lived career as a soldier in the U.S. Army.
DH is a vet of Desert Storm.
I am deathly allergic to cats.
I am a chocoholic & a workoholic.
I wear a size 14. The average size of the American woman.
I exercise 3 times a week aiming for a size 12 or smaller.
I love to watch Baby Story and Birth Story. I still cry while each baby is being delivered.
I am a woman, a wife, a mother, a sister, a friend and a person who loves her life.
Being a Mother has changed my life dramatically. I would not choose to be anyone else but Adrianna's Mama!
Questions to close my entry-
What is your child's fav cartoon?
How much tv do you let your toddler watch?
What is your toddler's fav meal?
All my love,
Carmajo
