Liah - just turned 5
Dylan - will be 3 in 5 days
Jay - 7 weeks old today
First of all, I am missing my TTM board! Please, iParenting, let us know what's going on!
I've updated our website at www.babiesonline.com/babies/h/hewittfamily with more pictures of Jay and also some of Liah's birthday. Please come and see us!
LIAH
She is my funny funny girl. Ever since Liah was little, she has been enamored by squirrels. Or rather by trying to scare them away. You see, she gets this from my dad. At their house, he has a huge birdfeeder, and squirrels are always trying to eat the bird food. So my dad will sit at the dining room window, then pound on the window, raise it, and yell out the window "Get out squirrels!" Well, Liah joined him in this escapade when she was really little. She'd knock on the window in that little tiny girl knock and go "Gi Ow Quirl!" Too cute. So we flash forward a couple of years. We've just recently moved into a house that has trees in the back yard (therefore, squirrels). Not long ago, she was looking out our dining room window and just got so excited. "Oh, mommy - look! Uh oh... there is a SQUIRREL out there from Nana's house! Now there are TWO! Can you scare them away?" I thought it was pretty cute. Those darn squirrels came here all the way from Nana's house to bother her.
Also, when Jay still had his umbilical stump, she used to call it his "peel". When she saw his belly the day after his stump fell off, she goes "Oh, mommy - Jay lost his peel!"
This girl also loves to clean. She particularly likes to help empty the dishwasher and fold laundry, which is funny because these are the two tasks I really loathe doing. Dusting, vacuuming, making beds, you name it, she's there. She says she can't wait to be a grown up so that she can do all the cleaning and can change diapers and take care of kids. She also wants to be a grownup so that she can "stop talking so much". She makes me nuts sometimes because she is NEVER quiet. We like to quote Shreck - when he's saving the princess, and the princess meets Donkey and exclaims "He can talk!", Shreck replies, "Yeah, it's getting him to shut up that's the problem". That's how it is with Liah. But Lord knows, we love her!
DYLAN
Dylan is just such a cutie. I try to reprimand him and he gives me that cute smile and hunches up his shoulders - I have to hide my face or leave the room so he won't see me crack. He's all boy, always running and jumping and growling and just causing commotion. For such a tough boy, though, he is sure a crybaby. And LOUD! When his sister upsets him or he doesn't like being told no about something, he throws down and SCREAMS. Big old alligator tears start flowing. Poor mistreated baby.
Dylan had called Tommy "Daddy" for the longest time, as Tommy had pretty much been "Daddy" since Dylan was only 5 months old. But Liah has always called him "Tommy". Dylan is at the stage now where he copies anything Liah does, and he's followed suit in this matter too. It kinda breaks my heart not to hear him call him Daddy anymore, but we've always agreed to leave that decision up to the kids. But it's kinda cute because now he'll point at Tommy and go "No Daddy... Tummy!" as he can't quite pronounce Tommy right. But without a doube he still loves Tommy just the same.
Dylan absolutely loves to be outside and would never ever come in if he had his way. The weather has been pretty nice here in Chattanooga lately, and the kids has spent a lot of time outside. Dylan got a new bike and Liah got a new scooter the week that Jay was born, so they have really been enjoying them.
BABY JAY
Jay went to the doctor last week and weighed in at 9 lbs. 4 ozs. and is 22 inches long. He is long and lean - in the 75th percentile in length and 25th percentile in weight. He smiles regularly now, and it is just so cute to see! He rolled over yesterday evening for the first time from his tummy to his back! We try to give him tummy time each day, although right now, he really hates it. We got him a mirror with some toys attached and also a play arch with link-a-doos that we can hang toys on so that he has something to play with. He's still not very interested in toys and mostly like to interact with us, but I'm sure that will change soon also. He's doing really well with a schedule of sorts now. He eats pretty much every four hours throughout the day (sometimes a little more often) and three hours throughout the night (sometimes a little less often). For the most part at night, I am nursing him at 11:30, 2:30, 5:30, and whenever Liah and Dylan wake us up for the day. I have my really tired days or nights, but for the most part, Jay has just fit right in to our family and everything has run pretty smoothly. I think it's going quite well. We sure do love him!
ODDS AND ENDS
Liah and I went shopping yesterday while the boys (meaning Tommy, Dylan, and Jay) stayed home and hung out having guy time. It was fun. Liah got some new sandals, Jay got some new toys, and I got to do some window shopping. Liah and I had a good time with it just being the girls.
I have been busy, busy! I cleaned out and organized our garage last week, while the kids spent the entire time outside. It was such a nice day. I unpacked the last of the boxes, moved things around, and swept everything out. We can now park not just one but, BOTH cars in the garage! And day before yesterday, I finally got all of my curtains hung. The house is finally starting to feel like home.
I drove to Knoxville last weekend to visit my best friend Laura. She hadn't seen Jay yet, and the day was so nice that I wanted to get out. She has two daughters - Courtney is 5 1/2 and Hayley is 2 1/2. We took all of the kids to a nice park, then to Dairy Queen. We all had a nice time together. I need to make it a point to get out more; it's just overwhelming sometimes with all of the kids! My friend Jennifer also came over on Sunday with her daughter (and Liah's best friend) Morgan, and Morgan's little sister Sidney. Liah and Morgan and Dylan had a blast together, and it was so nice to be able to sit back and enjoy some time with Jennifer. To me, the hardest part of being a stay at home mom is being an alone at home mom, so I really enjoyed seeing my friends.
I still don't have a TTM board, but if you'd like, you can use the link to my old board and drop me a line: http://interact.iparenting.com//postlist.php?Cat=&Board=ptcara
Hope this finds everyone well - don't forget to stop by and check out our pictures.
