Amy's Diary Entries

Diary Navigation:

November 3, 2002

I’m sorry I have been so delinquent with my diary entries. I used to read other diaries and think, I could do that, I have more than enough time. Then you have to do these entries and it seems that there is never enough time!

I started this entry so long ago we have had a BIG SURPRISE since then, I’M PREGNANT!! And yes, it was very much a surprise but a happy one at that! I’m 5wks 3days. My first dr.’s appt is tomorrow. I think I have taken about 8 HPT’s because I still can’t believe it. I am happy but a little scared about how I am going to handle 2 kids only 15 months apart. I also worry about Emma and feel a little guilty about bringing a brother or sister into her life so early. But as time does go along I’m feeling a little better everyday. Of course I worry about miscarriage, I think that any woman who has ever had one worries about it with every pregnancy. One exciting thing is my SIL is due with her second at the end of April and I’m due at the end of June being of July, so we get to be pregnant together. We still haven’t told anyone, I will probably wait until the 12-week mark. So any advice from anyone with 2 under 2 would be greatly appreciated.

So many things have been going on! We have had company or something to do; it seems every weekend in September or October! And by the way, where has this year gone! It seems I was just pregnant! And now Miss Em is already six months old. Since I already mentioned her, I will start with an update on what and how she is doing. Which is great, she rolls everywhere and is almost up on her hands and knees. Her favorite pastime is screeching. Which she likes to do in public. My one friend always asks me, “what did you do, pinch her?” I get the best looks from people in BJ’s when she lets loose!

Emma has been eating baby foods since she was four months old but she only eats at dinnertime. It used to be that it was only veggies but she has seemed to start liking some fruit but no cereal whatsoever! She makes the funniest faces! She can fit into 12-month clothes but they are still a little big. She loves to laugh! It is the absolute greatest sound in the world. My DH is the one who gets her going the most. It melts my heart when I see them together. We are looking for a new car seat now that she has outgrown her infant seat. I am almost 100% sure I want the Britax Roundabout, we put her in it in the store and she looked so comfy. The other choice was the Evenflo Triumph 5. We ended up buying the Britax in the cow pattern. Really cute.

Emma was a lamb for Halloween that her Nana made her, it was little big but she still looked absolutely adorable. We really didn’t go out much. Just around to a few places where her Grandma and Grandpa work and her Daddy’s office. The costume was just so hot! Our road gets a lot of trick or treaters but we turned out our porch light early, it was Emma’s bath night and she does go to bed around 7:30pm. So out went the light by 7:00pm.

I want to thank everyone who posted on my board about going back to work. I didn’t end up taking the job, good thing. But I just couldn’t bear leaving Emma; I would just miss her so much. I had also read a magazine Q& A column and one question was, “my child calls her caregiver mama, what can I do about that?” I knew my heart would break if that ever happened, so I turned the job down.

It seems there is a ton of baby dust going around these boards. I want to say congratulations to everybody and especially to fellow MT writer Christina!

Until next time,
Amy
