Holly's Diary Entries

Diary Navigation:

back to school blues

September 6, 2007

9-6-07
We got the results back from Mike's x-ray he has a bulged disc and has been seeing a Physical Therapist every day for 2 weeks. We go back tomorrow to see the Dr. who will be scheduling an MRI and possibly surgery.

Emmy and I started school this week. It has been crazy.  I taught the ¾'s on Tuesday and I did a terrible job. For some reason I forgot how to begin the year. I expected them to be at the level they were at the end of last year but some has never been to school before. We had two cry today which they didn't do on Tuesday. But as predicted they had stopped after 15 minutes. The twos were on Wednesday and it was insane.  I will have to reevaluate my whole method of dealing with twos. They are really good playing together (knock on wood) but not so good at anything group related. I know patience it will all come together. All in all it was better and worse than I expected. Some things I hadn't considered were a factor and others I dreaded went fine. The whole group seems to be a good group so I am still optimistic about the school year.

Abbey has started running cross-country track. I am not sure how this will go but it was something she wanted to do so I am all for letting her try. She was so hot and tired after her first practice but she said she wanted to go back. So she will practice again tomorrow.

I had my first PTA meeting tonight as secretary. I think I did ok. I came home and typed up two pages of notes from the meeting. Mike proofread it and said he didn't understand any of it. I think that is because he isn't involved at all with the girl's school. The people at the school have only ever seen him once and I had to give them a heads up that he was coming so they wouldn't think he was some stranger trying to kidnap Abbey.

I like the back to school time because we actually have some routine but in a way I hate it because my schedule goes crazy. I made out a calendar that shows what I am doing everyday in September and there is hardly a day that I don't two or three things listed to do.  I promise I will try to update once a week. I need to schedule a day that I do that too.

I really have a lot to write about but by the time I sit down to write I either can't remember what it was or don't feel like typing.
