Overdue update

June 7, 2007

OH my gosh I can't believe it has been so long since I updated last. This is a record for me I believe. Quite a lot has been going on. I officially closed out the end of the school year with my class. I am really going to miss them. I had a really great group of parents. I am also a little sad closing out the year not knowing what the next school year brings. We need a lot more children than we have to have two classes. Without two classes I am not guaranteed a spot as teacher except on the days we have twos we do have enough twos for a class unless someone changes their mind. I still have a few things I need to do to end out the year. I did manage to go visit the new baby sister of one of my students. They moved into the house behind ours so we walked over to visit.

Abbey ended her school year. The last week was really laid back. They had a field day that is when the entire school goes outside for the evening and play games and the classes compete against each other.  Abbey has looked forward to this for months now. They had a school wide party in the playground and they had fifth grade student versus teachers volley ball game. I ordered the cutest tote bag for Abbey's teacher as an end of the year present. It is their school colors with the name of the school appliquéd on it and her named embroidered on it. The embroidery store does such a good job. I love them.

The first weekend of summer vacation we went to visit family. It is something I use to look forward to but not anymore it seems like someone is always fighting. We were supposed to be having a family reunion. My grandma whose family we were having the reunion with had to go in for emergency surgery. She is out of the hospital and doing fine now. Everyone at the reunion took turns staying with her in the hospital.

I brought my cousin's baby back up for a stay. My cousin has had some serious issues with PPD. I am really surprised at how judgmental people are. Not so my friends but our family. The family we share and my maternal side and my in laws. No one can believe that she just can't cope and care for the baby. I decided to help because I just love Cady and I know how hard it is to have a baby at first. She has it extra hard being alone and having her husband in a war zone. I see how she could be depressed. She has been to the doctor and is on antidepressants. She said she still has days when she doesn't think they are working. I just can't believe how many people have told me what a horrible mom she must be for letting me take the baby. I have a different take on the matter. I think wow look at what a caring mom she is. She knows she isn't able so she has entrusted me to care for Cady because she knows I can.  That is the happiest baby I know. She is always smiling and cooing. I think given the circumstances she is doing a great job.

Abbey has been doing Civil War re enactments. I made her a dress so she would have something to wear. I had never made a dress before in my life and if I do say so myself it is cute. At least you can tell what it is. That's better than I thought it would be. This past weekend they did a living history demonstration on the old courthouse lawn. I will try to attach a picture.

The girls have been on vacation this week visiting first Mike's family then mine. I am missing them so much they have until Friday then they are coming home. I did manage to get my bedroom painted. I have hated my bedroom since I painted it. It was this pale icy blue. I usually love the color blue but I could never figure out how to decorate it so I painted it. The bottom is a dark green then there is a chocolate brown stripe around the middle and a buttery yellow tan at the top. It is very much me now.

I go this Friday for my consult with the consult with the bladder doctor. I am keeping my fingers crossed that she can do the surgery the easy way with the tension free tape method. I'll keep you posted.
