The waiting game

The waiting game

Well, I am home from the Cape and, unfortunately, have regained much of the discomfort that I was feeling before I left.  This is largely in part to the fact that I came back just as the biggest heat wave of the summer hit.  So I know it's not my town's fault, per se, but I can't help feeling as though I've left paradise to descend directly into the pits of humid, hot, soul sucking h*ll (oh, I'm sorry, does that sound too dramatic.  Well, it's exactly how it felt!!!!).  Anyway, that wasn't so great, and, with Ella back at school I've been missing her and having more time on my hands then I think is good for me.

On the positive side I must give myself credit for not blowing off all of this free time I have had.  I actually think I have been pretty productive (for me) and have gotten a lot done, especially things that really needed to happen before the baby is born.  This has included: Depositing dues for my neighborhood association (I am the dues collector), typing up, printing out and distributing (on foot, I must add) second dues notices, getting my oil changed in my car, getting Jamie's birthday shopping done, gathering, buying and packing all of Ella's stuff for the cruise, mailing out congrats/baby packages to two friends, getting my insurance squared away, and a host of other things that haven't come to me now but for which I have felt very busy.

What hasn't come to me at all, I must admit, are any nesting instincts regarding cleaning.  It seems that in this arena my natural inclination overrides any pregnancy hormones.  Those of you out there who are naturally drawn to cleaning have no idea how lucky you have it!

So, Ella leaves for the family cruise on Sunday, sans either parent but with a very capable grandmother. I am very sad to be missing this annual family vacation but happy she will be able to participate.  It also will be extremely convenient if I could get this child out while Ella is away.  Not only will we not have to worry about child care but we will have a few days to focus soley on little number two.  Unfortunately so far there have been no signs that I will go early (the cruise is the 23-30 th, I am due the 28 th) and, since Ella was three days late I don't have a history of this either.  Suffice it to say Jamie and I will be eating many spicy dinners, taking many long walks (weather permitting) and any other wives tales I can think up.  If I get desperate enough, and brave enough, I am considering going the castor oil route.  I have heard some pretty scary stories in that department but a number of them did seem to end up with a baby in the arms.

Wish me luck!

As always, thanks for reading!

PS--Finally, some current pictures.  Here is Ella and her cousin J enjoying my mom's lake earlier this month

This is Ella on our Slip and Slide.  Her and J really enjoyed this game but both ended up with MULTIPLE bumps and bruises.  A very 'hurty' toy, we all decided

Finally, in my ultimate act of bravery I not only present you with a belly shot, but a BATHING suit belly shot.  Fortunately for all involved, I did what I could to edit out my thighs.  Trust me, it was a public service act!
