Tomorrow...
June 11, 2006
Well, tomorrow Savannah is finally getting her Upper GI done. We've switched insurance and it's taken a couple months to get everything figured out, referrals written and appt's made. I am hoping they will be able to find out why her reflux is so bad. She is on 2 medications, since 2 weeks of age, Zantac and Prevacid....taking the 2 together has helped get a handle ont he problem. But her weight is still slowing because she loses so much breastmilk from spitting up(not really spitting up, more like puking, it's a good size amount, I would guess within a 2 hours after eating she loses between 1/2-1oz of breastmilk). And that goes on all day long. I am taking this a little more serious then most because we have had problems with reflux in the past with Carson. After some testing(and being on Zantac and Prevacid for almost 2 years) we found he had a hiatal hernia. That's when the opening to the stomach is too large, so food that comes into the stomach, just shoots back up and out as well. He had surgery to fix this last October and has been off medications ever since. The surgery is called Nissen Fundoplasty f anyone has heard of it. It's where they take the stomach and wrap it around itself at the top, so it tightens the opening so food can't come back out. He hasn't been able to puke and just now(7mths later) has been able to burp. I do hope this isn't the case with Savannah, but at the same time, then we could get it fixed and she wouldn't have to take med's anymore, or be in pain anymore....so it's a catch 22!
On a good note we took the kids to see Cars today, very cute movie. There's even some humor for the adults(Mater is hysterical!!!)
Well I have to cut this short again, Savannah is on my lap and not happy at the moment, so better run! HUGS :)![]() | ![]() |
