almost summer...
May 27, 2007
I have 4 boys playing PlayStation right now! OY'!!!
Our nephews are having their first big sleep-over weekend. I am so exhausted. I think I've heard about 482 tattles and this is our 3rd day together! They come to live with us for good in 2 weeks.
I want to do the right thing, but man is this stressful! Brett and I took our Foster Parenting CORE class last weekend. It was a 1 1/2 day class with about 40 other people. One other couple was there for kinship care(and one single gal). We all had a different take on this then our classmates. Many were there to be genuine Foster Parents, many were there hoping to adopt their foster kids eventually(or quickly in their opinons). Not sure how I felt about them *wanting* to take someones kids. They would make comments like "how many times can the birth parents mess up before we get their kids". In all this, I WANT our nephews to go back home. Once thier mom can take care of them and provide for them(and stop drinking) they need to go home. We want to help them for now, but we do want them to go home. The caseworker said they will push us to become lagal guardians within the next 4mths. So this is going to VERY fast for us. We thought we'd be foster parents for a couple years.....so we will be on our own(providing and such) for these 2 boys alot quicker then we had hoped.
Anyways, I can't keep up with my diary right now, it is just plain mad around here. I am also STILL fighting Jake's school for accommodations. Our next meeting is next Thurs...their lawyer will be in attendance. This sucks so bad. I just want Jake safe at school, I don't want him surrounded by peanut butter ALL the time. But yet you have to fight tooth and nail to keep it from happening. It's sad. But I am stubborn so I battle on. I also joined EVERY committee on the PTO. If you can't beat em', join em"......right?? I hope it works out that way.
I gotta break up another fight....take care, Chanda
