The Night Before Kindergarten 8/24

August 27, 2006

Chloe starts kindergarten tomorrow. Chloe is attending private christian school. She has been at this school since she was 3. Last year she became a fluent reader, before kindergarten. I cannot beleive it's been six years since I was pregnant with her. I can truely say the time has flown by. We had received our supply listing in July and I purchased everything I could as I found it. They asked for very specific things. Like plastic folders with no clips. Chloe's school has many rules. I will need to learn the rules also. This is very different from her preschool experience. The principal speaking about how we have to allow our kids to become independent. This is going to be hard for me. I spent about 90 minutes at the schools orientation and meeting the teacher and going over class notes. I was totally on information overload by that point, especially since I had training at work and it posed some challenges for me too. We will all figure this out. I am very strict when it comes to following the schools rules. I beleive if were on the same page as the teacher things flow smoothly. Funny thing, we don't have problems with Chloe and her behavior. Sometimes she's cranky when she tired, but that's about it. Friday was the first day of school and it was also a 1/2 day. Chloe finished at 11:30. They even have strict rules for dismissial and in the morning parents are not to go interrupt the teachers before school starts, this is so different from preschool. At preschool it was very lax, but I understand these kids have a job to do. Chloe's teacher is young, vibrant, and pretty. She seems to be genuine and sweet. She's from the north too which is a great ice breaker. She had read our paper work and was aware of the situations that i documented. Tomorrow is her first full day of school. She needs to take a snack and bottle of water. I've adjusted my work schedule so I can take her to school. I will be taking a 30 minute lunch instead of an hour now. I really like having a 30 minute lunch because an hour seems so long for me. We have new sneakers for school and that's it. Right now it's still in the sweltering 90's and Chloe is good for summer clohtes. I plan on buying some new stuff for all of us at the end of September. I will probably need to get her new skirts, because she wasn't into jeans last year, just skirts. Plus, the new clothes will be too hot to wear being that were still 90 plus degrees every day. I have to get a whole new wardrobe too. I am down almost 75lbs, I am a Size 12 on the bottom and a Large on top. It's amazing. I got rid of everything that didn't fit me earlier this year. I look forward to shopping in the regular departments and not off at the 'special' department for fat women. My husband will need a new wardrobe because he's going to begin student teaching in a few weeks. He needs some of the 'cooler' weight pants and a new pair of shoes. We are really broke at this point right now. Everything is sidelined and put on the back burner. Chloe will be attending afterschool care too. I know that she will get a fresh, hot, homecooked lunch at her school everyday. The food is really yummy, there. She's allowed to bring toys to school for afterschool time and they do activities and allow the kids to play. Chloe loves all the other little children in her class. SHe knew about 50% of them from her prek class. The girl she likes the most is not in her class, I'm kida glad beceause I didn't want to start that precidence of having special requests. I just don't think her friendship with this little girl is that important. Well, I"m off to get things going for another busy week... Jennifer & Chloe - Princess Cool C
