11/20/06 - A visit with Santa and Happy Thanksgiving!

November 20, 2006

Saturday, Justin got to see Santa at the mall and get a picture with him.  I didn't even realize he was out already.  This was the first year he was happy about it and even talked to Santa about what he wanted.  He also told him about the little boy who was lost in Walmart (I don't think I wrote about that?), so I'm thinking that one of his Christmas wishes is that the boy is home and safe.  I'm not sure if a three-year-old could really understand that concept, but that would be so sweet if that was why he brought it up.  It may just be something that sticks in his mind though.  Anyway the picture is below.

I would like to wish everyone a Happy Thanksgiving.  For the past few years, I have been making a list of what I am thankful for.  They may be some of the same things that most people would list, but I think it is nice to stop and think about these blessings.  Since I am keeping a gratitude journal this year, I am thinking of making this a special entry for Thanksgiving.  What are you all thankful for?  I'd love to see everyone's lists!  Here are my top ten in no particular order:

God for creating the world and everyone in it
Jesus for giving His life for us
My husband for being there and for our love
Our son for showing me what a miracle is
Our pets for their loyalty and friendship
Our family and friends for their love and support
Our health which too often can be taken for granted
Our jobs so that we can have everything we need
Our food that keeps us nourished and healthy
Our home for the shelter and warmth it provides

Challenge update:  I have graduated!  Wow, this went really fast, but I am actually finished and I feel that I am more organized by using my lists, and I find it easier to keep up at work.  Also, I am better able to appreciate and be grateful for all the little moments in life, even if I don't always get a chance to write them down.  The things I still need to work on are the same things I've always had trouble with:  cooking, nutrition, exercise, and cleaning.  However, I've made progress even in these areas and that in itself is amazing.  There are also a couple of online classes that I want to take next year that are related to these things.  For now, I am just concentrating on getting ready for Thanksgiving and Christmas.

Thanks for reading!
