11/15/06 - Slight potty regression and our community
November 15, 2006
For the past few weeks, Justin has been having potty accidents. Not every time, or even every day, but often enough where I don't think they are really accidents. He has been in underwear and potty trained since April, and didn't have any accidents for months, so I know he knows the process and can make it to the potty when he has to go. I am trying not to show reaction or call attention to it, just a matter-of-fact "OK let's get cleaned up. We can make it to the potty next time." I believe that if it is truly accidental, then making a big deal out of it won't help and if it is on purpose, then it could turn it into a power struggle or a way to get extra attention. And with my son's personality, I could totally see him doing it on purpose if he thinks it bothers me. I do not want to put him in Pull-ups because I think that would set our potty progress way back, as he really did not start trying until he was in underwear. So we will just wait it out and see what happens. I am thinking he will sort this out on his own.
One of our fellow MomsToday writers has mentioned the inactivity on our diaries and boards, and I had been thinking about that myself lately. When I used to read here before I had my own diary, I remember the writers' boards being so busy that I couldn't keep up with some of them. There seemed to be a wonderful, supportive community of both writers and readers on this site. I know we are all busy moms, but if we had this before then I think we could again. So let's all try to be more active here and make this an even better place to write and visit!
Challenge update: Making time to take care of ourselves even when we are busy was last week's focus. Some of the ideas suggested that are particularly interesting to me: collecting inspirational quotes, taking one or two ten-minute breaks each day to do something you really want to do or nothing at all, and taking an online class for something that is personally interesting. I do write quotes that I come across every so often in my notebook. Each morning I have been doing a Bible reading for 10 or 15 minutes. I would like to read in the evening too, there are so many books that I would like to read, but I've been too tired and falling asleep with Justin. Taking an online class sounds like a fun thing to do also, and I love to learn new things.
I have added a few new videos to Dropshots that I'd like to share:

Thanks for reading!
