11/10/06 - Fun at Chuck E Cheese and possibly weaning

November 10, 2006

Wow I'm late getting this entry in!  I usually try to write by Monday or Tuesday, but this has been a really busy week.  I tried to go to the library (Justin hasn't been there yet) on Saturday, but by the time I got errands done in the morning it was time to go home for lunch and nap.  Then I wanted to start making dinner at 4pm so I figured it would be too late to go when he woke up at 3pm.  Yes I am going to try to start making dinners on the weekends.  I just can't seem to find the time during the week to make more than a cheeseburger, hot dog, or frozen dinner/pizza, so I figure the weekends are better than not at all.

Tuesday I had taken off work, so I had thought about trying the library that day, but it was closed for Election Day.  So we went to vote, and then around lunchtime went to Chuck E Cheese with a couple of cousins.  It was a really nice time for all of us.  We had pizza and the kids went on the rides and played games, and I still have lots of tokens left.  We've only been there once before, for a birthday party in March, but it didn't take Justin long to catch on.  Work has been extremely busy, because it seems if I take one day off, I fall behind the rest of the week.  We will try the library again this weekend, but I will have to put some errands onto Sunday to be able to fit it in Saturday morning, as the library is closed on Sunday.

In other Justin news, we got back his fall pictures from school.  As usual, they are adorable, not that I am biased or anything!  I'll include the picture below.  For the past couple of weeks, he has refused to sleep in his room, and has been in our bed the entire night.  He also doesn't nurse when he sleeps in our room, so I don't know if he was trying to wean, but can't seem to fight the association of nursing to sleep in his room.  We decided to take his toddler racecar bed out of his room, since he refused to sleep in it and we were planning to get him a big boy twin bed soon anyway.  For now there is a twin-size air mattress in there.  For the first few days, he refused to sleep on that either.  I put the new sheets and comforter on it that I had bought for when we get the new bed, and we talked about how nice his new bed and sheets are.  Finally last night he decided to sleep in his room on the new mattress.  He wanted to nurse for five minutes first though.  That was the first time in a couple of weeks that he nursed at bedtime.  So I am not sure what is going on with weaning right now.  I think we are headed in that direction, but very gradually.

Challenge update:  I can't believe there are less than two weeks left!  Last week was the health section.  For several years now, my New Year's resolutions have included healthy eating and exercise and I always start off with good intentions but can't keep up with it.  So I am following the suggestions in the challenge of making a few small changes, but not trying to give up junk food all at once or be a perfectionist.  I want to be able to make mistakes and pick up again where I left off instead of giving up like I have in the past.  Right now I am working on drinking more water, eating more fruit, eating breakfast, and walking more.  Although I am still eating whatever I want besides that, I've noticed with all the water and fruit I'm eating, that I don't want as much junk food.

Thanks for reading!
