09/24/06 - Preschool at home and contract signed

September 25, 2006

I found a website with free preschool curriculum ideas (thanks to one of the ladies on Justin's born in board) and Justin and I have been working on this since last Monday.  Although I know they do some of these things where he goes to school, now I have the benefit of being a little more involved in his learning, something I always felt that I was missing out on by sending him to school so early.  As a bonus, it also give us some built-in time together in the morning and evening, it doesn't take long, and we both have fun.  Each week, we work on a different theme, vocabulary word, shape or color, letter, number, and nursery rhyme.  We read books and poems, sing songs, color and do other activities related to that week's subjects, and he has a poster on his door where we can display what he is learning each week.

Saturday, we went to the showroom to look at model sunrooms.  We finalized everything we wanted and signed the contract.  I had applied for financing last week, and we are waiting for paperwork to come in the mail to sign and send back for that.  So other than that, our next steps are waiting for our contractor to send someone out to take pictures for the architect and township, and waiting for our loan to be approved and money in bank so the contractor can start the process.  This is really exciting to me, and I just hope it isn't held up too much by the loan process or by the township permits and inspections.

Challenge update:  I still haven't completely gotten back on track since being sick, because I ended up falling asleep while putting Justin to bed most nights last week.  The main focus was the kitchen.  It is now organized and cleaned, most of which I finished up today.  And I did a menu plan and shopping list for meals for this week.  That is kind of a hard part for me.  I have no problem figuring out what to make or having the ingredients for it, the problem is I don't usually have time to cook during the week.  It is something I've been struggling with because I really want to do it for Justin. But my time is already so full, that taking an extra half hour to an hour after getting home at 5:30pm with an already fussy child, just isn't practical most days.  I've tried cooking in the morning, but that is a hectic time as well, and I don't always get time or want to spend my morning doing that.  So the compromise has been to make him something instant like his Gerber toddler meals during the week, and if I get a chance to cook anything then that is a bonus.  I will try to make a better effort to cook more on the weekends though.  Today I made boneless chicken rolled with cheese and macaroni and cheese, just something I thought of at the last minute because I was hungry.

Thanks for reading!
