08/06/06 - Boys day out and a second play date
August 6, 2006
Daddy spent the day with Justin on Friday. They stayed home from work and school and went to a couple of stores, visited work to look at some big trucks, and then did some swimming and played outside for a while, and he even took a nap. I was really happy that they were able to spend this time together and have some fun, and that Justin was so well behaved. While I truly am happy though, I am also a little sad that he behaves well for everyone except me. It seems not only is he wonderful at school and for his babysitter once a month, but now I see he is even fine at home as long as I am not there. I have read that kids sometimes behave differently around different people, but I didn't really think this would apply to Mom and Dad getting totally opposite behavior! It really makes me wonder if I am doing something wrong, but I can't see what I may be doing differently than he does. Oh well, all I can do is try my best to be a good mom.
Yesterday we met a boy from Justin's school and his mom at a park. We had met with them once before a couple of months ago and had a lot of fun, so we decided to do it again. The kids had a great time running and jumping and climbing on everything and we took some pictures. Afterward, we went to Burger King for lunch and they went into the play area in there too. When we got home, we ended up going in the pool and playing outside for a couple more hours, so it was a really long busy day for both of us. Justin had no nap and was starting to get cranky when it was time to go in the house. He was hungry though, and ate a yogurt and an applesauce and another ice pop and drank my V8 juice! He got a bath and then got even crankier, but we finally made it to 7:30 and he was sound asleep in ten minutes. I do love how he sleeps at night when he doesn't have a nap, but I don't care for the hours leading up to bedtime, with the screaming and throwing things and general unhappiness. But I know to expect these things when we go out on the weekends.
