07/30/06 - County fair and night time potty success
July 30, 2006
Yesterday, we went to the county fair. The first thing Justin wanted to do was see the animals. He had a great time petting and feeding the goats and sheep. There were also horses, ducks, and a donkey. He just loves animals and gets so excited and fascinated over them. Then we went on a few rides. Last year, he could only go on the carousel, but this year in addition to that, he went on a couple of little kid roller coasters. One looked like a safari bus, and I went on that one with him. The other one was trucks and he had to go on that one by himself – first time on a ride alone! He loved it, although we were a bit nervous, and had to yell to him a couple of times "Justin sit up!" as he tried to lean over the side to check out his truck. Finally, we ate lunch, that was what I had wanted to do first actually! We had chicken strips and fries dipped in cheese. Then I bought a mint chocolate chip ice cream and Justin and I shared it. We all had a fun day! Justin fell asleep on the way home, but did not continue his nap when we got there. He didn't nap today either, and we were home all day. I hope he is not trying to give them up; I still need him to take naps!
Justin hit a big milestone on Monday night. He wore cloth training pants to bed instead of pull-ups! He's been completely out of pull-ups since then with NO accidents. Never in my wildest dreams did I imagine this child would potty train himself. I was prepared for it to be as much of a struggle as most other things we do, and I was not even expecting to begin working on it until this summer and now he is done. I had mentioned a couple of weeks ago that I wanted to try letting him wear underwear and plastic pants to bed. Well, he didn't want to, so I just told him to let me know when he is ready. Last Monday, he took the underwear out of the drawer to wear to bed, but he still refused to wear the plastic pants. I had bought a pack of six and he will not wear them, but apparently he knows what he is doing because he doesn't seem to need them. Of course I had also bought a new pack of pull-ups, so I'll keep it for a few weeks, then bring it to school so someone else can use them. Hooray for Justin – potty training is officially complete!
