Tricia's Diary Entries

Diary Navigation:

October 22, 2003

Wow, I think I really did it. I reformed myself. I read somewhere that it takes 35 days to undo, or learn a new habit. I’m so happy to say that I transformed myself from a messy housekeeper into an organized, neat, and HAPPY one.

Always working and having little ones always left me with a messy house. ALWAYS. I was miserable about it, and it took up so much time and energy always falling behind and being stuck in the house on the weekends doing long stretches of housework and trying to get on top of it all, ALL the time. Plus, once my house reached the point of no return, well, it would just stay like that for a while since it was just too hard and overwhelming to get control of at that point. For a long time, I felt like the clutter and mess has had a hold on me and making me miserable, so I finally took charge! I never realized how easy indeed it would be to keep a clean house clean! It is a breeze staying on top of things now.

Obviously, one big plus here is our house. Everything is new and shiny, neatly organized from unpacking and clutter free. Another bonus, and two things that I know make all the difference, is my dishwasher and laundry room. Even with 3 kids, cloth diapers, 3 meals a day and all, I never had a dishwasher, or a dryer, only a washer and a clothesline. These two luxuries make my life heaven. Honest.

While Charles and Lyssie are in school, and Sarah is napping, I do a once over of the entire house….bathrooms, wash floors, my daily 2 loads of laundry……and as soon as the kids come home, I unpack backbacks, get them ready for the next day and lay all their clothes and things out for school the next day when they are in the bathtub. (ha, so easy to do now that I never have laundry pile up!). I never leave the kitchen after dinner before tidying up. I used to. Do you know how awful that was starting the day in a messy kitchen with last nights dinner mess?! I think I’ve finally cured myself and it feels great!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Just wanted to share my accomplishment, and more on the kiddos next week!

Tricia :-)
