Wow, I am actually starting out this entry by telling you are we are moving THIS WEEK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Do you know how long I have waited for this? LOL The tasks that remain before the big move~ Chuck refinishing the hardwood floors in the den and living room, and me painting those two rooms! I think I am seriously in denial though. Is this really it? Is this really MY house? The carpet been installed, the tile’s been laid, it looks incredible!
I am thinking that I am pretty well prepared for the big day. Heck, I’ve been preparing and sorting and packing for over a year, so you would think I had better well be organized, lol. Most all the furniture is being moved to the curbside here as we are not taking it. Our house will be pretty bare for a while, but I refuse to take our junky stuff. I’m not being picky, really, just that I am NOT taking my old couches (complete with rips and slipcovers) and the like. The kids have new bedroom sets, we are taking our own bed for now and hoping to afford some new furniture soon, and yikes, I just realized we haven’t gotten our new living room set off of lay away yet. Oh well, I’ll lay a quilt on the floor for the time being! I’m so excited!!!!!!!!!!!
More work still remains though. We need to finish all the molding around the windows, remodel the entire closed in front porch (which stinks because you need to get into the house that way, and it is really yucky looking!) among various other things. (Lots of various things!) But it all seems small compared to what we DID do. Amazing! It will be sooooooooo much easier getting the remainder of the work done as we will be living there and I will not need to arrange sitters for myself to get over there and work. The kids will be back in school in 3 weeks, and Sarah still takes her lovely 3-4 hour naps in the afternoon, so I am definitely looking forward to some hard work, finishing touches, and fun stuff.
On a side note here, I ‘m sure I have relayed what a big fan of “Trading Spaces” Chuck and I are. Well, this is what I found out AFTER THE FACT. The show and crew were right here in two neighboring towns LAST WEEK! Some of the girls from the hospital where I work were talking about how they went down every day to get a glimpse of the workers, and autographs. I’m so sad. I definitely would have joined them!!!!!!!!! I have heard Hilde was snooty, Doug was extremely nice and Ty was adorable! The episodes will air in September, I can’t wait to watch. Sigh Just wish I could have been part of the action. I’m sure Chuck and I would have gotten there a few times.
In other news……
Yesterday was an especially crummy day. It was hot, humid, sticky, thick , rainy, and just plain nasty. Chuck hung around all day in limbo, making phone calls, tying up loose job odds and ends, Charles and Lyssie watched too much TV, and Sarah and I took a nap. The time got away from us, and here it was almost 8pm, and we all were stir crazy. Chuck and I thought it would be neat to take Charles and Lyssie to the late movie seeing as they are out of school, and it just sounded like an exciting thing to do and a good time to do it. Little Sarah probably wouldn’t last through a 9:40 movie though, what to do? We have taken her with us to every movie we have been to since she has been born, (it’s like a nursing- free- for- all, so she is rather behaved while there, lol) but this was pushing it. After some tough soul searching (lol) and much regret and reluctance on our part, we decided to leave Sarah home with Chuck’s mom who lives downstairs. This was to be the very first time we have ever gone out as a family while leaving the poor little girly behind. It was pathetic, really. Charles and Lyssie openly sobbed for her, Chuck kept wondering aloud what Sarah was thinking at the moment, if she felt abandoned by us, and it was all just almost comical! Chuck’s mom said she didn’t make a peep all night and happily fell asleep in her lap when she got tired. Ah, she did say that Sarah tried to lift her shirt a few times though, lol.
******************I have had this entry written, trying to finish it for a week now, so let me just wrap it up here and post it as we are moving in 3 days and I’ll be off line until Monday!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
See you soon!
Tricia
