Tricia's Diary EntriesDiary Navigation: |
May 27, 2003
Ah, what a looooong weekend! Mine and the kids 3 day weekend was packed full of things to do~ picnics, parades and baseball games~ and ALL was cancelled due to that darn rain! We were so disappointed. The kids cried every day due to all the fun things they knew they were missing out on, and we basically were cooped up in the house all weekend, and I *almost* couldn't wait for it to be over. Never thought I'd say that, lol! Charles angrily asked "So who is responsible for all this rain anyway?!! God?!??????" He was so sad, poor little guy.
Well, Saturday at least wasn't a complete washout. We packed up the kids and headed to the Peabody Museum here in New Haven. That's always a fun and inexpensive way to spend the day as a family, and educational too, I might add! The first room that we walked into had the rebuilt remains of a 12 foot sea turtle! I was so anxious to point this out to Lyssie (lol, how could anyone miss it anyway?) because just this morning, her and Charles were fighting about the size of turtles. Charles had drawn a rather large one, and Lyssie was insisting that turtles HAD to be very small, lol! Her eyes sure popped out of her head when she laid eyes on that mamoth turtle! Sarah enjoyed herself and pointed at everything in sight and pronounced whatever it was, be it a bear, or a dinosaur, to be "Zackie" (Zack is our dogs name, everything resembling an animal to her is "Zack") She is a very well behaved toddler, as she is still content to sit in her stroller wherever we go. Charles had a blast, and when we got home, he used up most of by clothespins by trying to carve up some Indian spears, just like the ones he had seen that day. :-) We then went out to dinner, and rented some movies. "Adaptation" for us (I thought I would die before it was over, ugh) and "Max Keebles Big Move" for the kids, which they enjoyed.
I have been meaning to write about Sarah's antics for some time now, I will try to get caught up before I forget them all! She is just the cutest thing ever, lol! The things she does all have us oohing and ahhing and yelling for one another to "Come see what she is doing now!" all day long! :-)
Whenever she walks into the bathroom, she must sit on her potty, rip off some toilet paper and "wipe" herself. (Through her clothes and all) Then she has to go over and climb up onto the stool and demand the water be turned on for her to was her hands. Anytime Chuck or I is brushing or doing Lyssie's hair in there also, she has to pick out a "pretty" (elastic) and she patiently waits her turn for her hair to be done. (she still has none, we do a good job of pretending~ lol!) During bath time, I dump the shampoo in Lyssie hand and supervise her washing it, now I must dump some in Sarah little waiting expectant hand as well, in which she then "washes" her own. Very cute!
Sarah has also started "tattling" on her siblings lately. Lyssie or Charles will take her away from something or reprimand her for turning the TV off on them for the umpteenth time, so little Sarah will immediately come over to me, utter their names and then babble for a few seconds while pointing at the appropriate offender. She is just such a little missy, so busy all the time, so cute and has such a little personality already. We all can't get enough of her. Also, anything and everything she does, is followed by her looking up and saying "Mommie?!" So cute!!!!!!!!!!!
My work scheldule continues to go well. I never thought it would actually go this smoothly for us all. Sarah is a very light sleeper, but, for some reason, she almost NEVER wakes to the alarm at 4am, or me getting ready and leaving for work, it's great! I spent so much time stressing and imagining her freaking out during me trying to get ready at the crack of dawn, and thankfully, no problem at all. (Knocking on wood here!) She wakes with Chuck and the kids, has breakfast and is dressed, drops Charles and Lyssie off with Daddy, and we both pull into the driveway at pretty much the same time~915am. Chuck then leaves for work, and Sarah is mine. She gets sooooooo excited to see me and the very first thing she does every morning is immediately rips my ID badge off. "Enough of this working" I am guessing her saying, lol! She then points to the front door where we go upstairs, where she then hops up on the computer chair and starts anxiously tugging at the zipper of her coat until I remove it for her. She then pulls at her feet saying "Stinky" (her word for feet, shoes or socks) until I remove those also and then she exclaims "Ahhhh". She will then point to my shirt and we settle into nurse and she will usually then go right into her nap. Very nice. :-)
I wanted to get an update in and get rid of my negative one. :-( Hey, it's tough being mom to three sometimes! We did have a better week though, despite all the rain. The house is still coming along, not to much longer!!!!!!!!!
Tricia :-)
