Weight Loss on the Web
Can Internet Diets Work for You?
By Lisa Marie Metzler
Internet Dieting Options
All of the following Internet weight loss programs contain various interactive features, such as online journals, nutrient and calorie counters, weight trackers, weekly motivational e-mails and message boards. Articles about nutrition, exercise and cooking are easily accessed as well. Keep in mind, as with any weight loss program, you get what you put into it. This site boasts several online calculators that help the participant keep track of their weight loss. Tools, such as The Enhanced Calorie Calculator, let the participant chose from thousands of foods with the option to download to their home computer and track the progress. Crystal Malchose, a mother of five boys from Wamego, Kan., lost 44 pounds using CaloriesCount.com. The online calorie calculator is the feature that drew in Malchose. "I was looking for an online calorie calculator," she says. "I wanted something that would tell me how many calories and fat grams were in my food without me having to carry around a book or try to figure out how much a serving was." Even though she has met her goal weight, she still uses the online calorie calculator every day.
