Summer Crafts
Fun Activities to Welcome Summer By Kymberly Pratt
Fun is the name of the game during summertime! Welcome the warm weather months by doing these simple crafts and activities with your toddler or preschooler. And be sure to grab your camera and capture the memories!
Children require adult supervision for all crafts and activities.
You'll need:
Dry white butter beans that have been soaked overnight in water
Paper towels
Plastic baggies that zip at the top
Tape
Paper cup
Dirt
Here's what you do:
Fold your paper towel in half, andthen fold it in half again. Wet it well, but make sure it is not dripping with too much water. Lay it flat inside your baggie.
Next, put three or four soaked beans on the paper towel in the baggie. Close the baggie tightly and tape it to a window or a door that gets lots of sunlight. In three or four days the beans will start to sprout.
After about five days, plant the sprouted bean in a paper cup. Keep the cup on a windowsill and let it continue to grow. It will grow very fast and after about one month you will start to see white and yellow flowers. Watch closely; you might see a new bean growing too! Do not forget to water the plant a little every day.
You'll need:
Large bowl
Flyswatter
Slotted spoons
Straws
1/2 cup dish soap
2 teaspoons sugar
1 1/2 cups water
