Now That's Hot!
Exercise Your Body and Mind With Heated Yoga By Teri Brown
Breuer also says individuals can take precautions against becoming overheated by being adequately hydrated before each class, and dressing in layered light-weight clothing that can be easily removed as the body temperature rises.
"If an individual has led a sedentary life or has been exercising very little, they should begin with an easier style of yoga before attempting hot yoga," says Breuer.
Breuer believes that people interested in hot yoga should master the basic moves of the Sun Salutation (vinyasa) before attempting hot yoga as many hot yoga classes are based on this form.
"Don't short change yourself by focusing only on the physical aspect of the practice of yoga," says Breuer. "Yoga is a practice that can teach and guide us to be radically alive through the practice of the eight limbs of yoga. The eight limbs of yoga promote awareness, health and flexibly for our bodies; teach us to be positive in our relationships with self and others; teach us how to breathe efficiently and correctly; and ultimately enable us to control our senses and actions and to meditate."
While hot yoga may not be for everyone, those who practice it are convinced it gives a sense of well being that even regular yoga can't match. If you have a love for the warm, it may be just the exercise for you.
