Just when you think you've seen every exercise trend possible, another one pops up that makes you scratch your head and go, "huh?" Hot yoga has been around for years, but is just now gaining national attention and popularity. Devotees adore it, believing it gives them many benefits that regular yoga cannot. How hot is hot? Try about 100 degrees. Now that's hot.

Mind and Body
Jill Chreretis, mother of two from Ashburn, Va., is a yoga teacher and a devoted hot yoga practitioner. She believes that hot yoga is not only good for your body but good for your soul.

"I thoroughly enjoy yoga in a heated room," says Chreretis. "Because it's designed to emulate the heat of India it allows your body to get into the positions that Yoga was designed to do to your body. The heat warms you from the inside out, allowing your muscles to stretch more and your body to relax."

Chreretisbelieves that regular 90-minute hot yoga sessions can practically replace your esthetician as it works your complexion, your chiropractor as it works your muscular system, your personal trainer as it works your physical body and your psychologist as it relaxes and uplifts your spirit.

"Heated yoga has become an integral part of my life," says Chreretis. "It makes me feel physically and mentally stronger, it keeps my body looking and feeling at its peak and it makes me a stronger and happier person which allows me to be a better mother, wife, friend, daughter and contributor to our society."

Chreretis says that while she was overwhelmed at the beginning, she knew that like anything new it takes time to get used to it. "I knew that once I left the class, my body was changed forever," says Chreretis.
