Getting Ready, Having Fun!
Crafts That Promote Skills
Needed for Preschool By Kymberly Pratt
Needed for Preschool
Here's what you do:
To find good pictures or photos for this project, you want to look for those that have different numbers of people in them. For instance, maybe you took an Easter picture with all THREE kids, or you have TWO dogs or NINE balls. You could even take pictures specifically for use with such a craft. Find groups of objects in ONE, TWO, THREE and so forth.
After you have found your pictures, it's time to mount them on the construction paper. Help your child cut the construction paper to size, using the pictures as the guide.
Next, let your child cover the back side of each picture with glue and then glue it to the construction paper. Place a large book on top of them to help them dry flat and to prevent any bubbles from forming. Allow them to dry completely. This could take up to overnight.
When they are dry, write the numbers on the pictures of the objects it represents. For instance, if you have a picture of two kittens, write a "2" in the bottom corner. Store the flashcards in the plastic baggie.
Tip: This can also be done with the letters of the alphabet.
You'll need:
2 yellow poster boards
Safety scissors
Alphabet cut-outs (you can purchase these or make these)
Old children's books or magazines you can cut up
White glue
Construction paper
Markers or colors
Washable paint
Here's what you do:
To get started, let your child paint hand prints all over both poster boards. This adds color and ownership and makes a beautiful background. Allow the poster board to dry completely.
