Affordable At-home Fitness for the Busy Parent
By Tracy Simmons
Not really interested in buying strength training equipment? Try using what you have! "I used to use my baby as a weight," Nicol says. "I would lift her up into the air. She had a great time and so did I. As her weight increased, so did my strength."
Fitness Mat ($20-$75)
A mat is a wonderful fitness tool. You can use it for all of your floor work, for performing crunches and lower back extensions. It is also wonderful when practicing yoga and Pilates. They both offer a great workout and are not as hard as you think. Here is a great starter yoga posture that will help to improve flexibility in your spine and stretch out your chest: - Sit up tall with your shoulders over your hips in a cross legged position.
- Take you right hand and place it on your left knee.
- Wrap your left hand around your lower back with your palm facing out.
- Inhale and as you exhale, look over your left shoulder as you gently rotate to the left.
