Working out Without Going Broke

If you do need exercise equipment, look for it at a local thrift store or used sports store. If you are just starting to play tennis, you don't need a $200 racket. A $5 one will work just as well and won't make you feel guilty if you decide that chasing a little bouncing ball just isn't your thing! One caution: Make sure the equipment is in good working order. You don't want to buy ice skates with a loose blade, for instance.

Head to the library! You can pick up workout videos and books there, all for free. There are several advantages to this. You can try a variety of workouts so you don't get bored, and if there's one you really enjoy, you can purchase it for your own collection.

Dancing is a great workout and is also absolutely free. Turn on some of your favorite music and give it your all for about 15 minutes. Head to your local park for a play date with the kids. After a brisk walk, you can climb on the equipment with your children. When was the last time you tried the monkey bars? They take more upper arm strength than you may remember!

For extra motivation, turn to the Internet. Web sites such as Moms Today are full of information and exercise plans, while sites like Recipes Today have plenty of healthful food options for the whole family. Keep walking! This is a fantastic way to get fit and can be done almost anywhere. Boost your cardio strength and calorie burn by interspersing 60 seconds of jogging throughout a 30-minute walk.

Whatever method you choose to get fit for free, you'll love the results. Remember, doing the activities you enjoy is the greatest motivation.
