Tips for Mixing Parenthood and Passion

Evans points out that many couples don't realize how their daily interaction makes a difference in the bedroom. "We're nice to each other," she says. "We give each other compliments, thank each other for the little things, and try to focus on each other's accomplishments. You're much more receptive when you feel appreciated."
Heather Truett of Tallassee, Ala., agrees with Evans. "One thing we decided a long time ago is to not push each other's buttons," she says. "We avoid those triggers that always end in a fight, no matter how angry we get. I think this keeps our relationship strong because when we argue, we aren't trying to hurt one another."
As important as interactions throughout the day are, couples still need to find alone time, moments when they are Man and Wife, not Mom and Dad. Dr. Davis Raskin recommends finding a babysitter or a friend that you can trust to watch your kids. Then, either you go out on a date, or have the sitter take the kids to a movie, leaving you at home alone. She also says that it is vital that you have a lock on your bedroom door (as well as a locked box or closet for your "private moment" items) and teach your children that they are to respect your privacy when your bedroom door is locked.
"Parental sexuality is a family value," writes Dr. Davis Raskin on her Website. "Great sex is an important part of the glue that keeps parents connected." Although parents don't share the intimate details of their relationship with their family members, children can tell that their parents have a loving, passionate marriage.
Most of all, remember that sex is supposed to be fun. And doesn't everyone need to make time for a little more fun?
