5 Fun Fall Crafts for Tots

By Kymberly Pratt

Pages:  1  2  3

Kids love pumpkins! Whether it's the real thing or ones made out of brown bags, glass jars or ceramic pots, have fun this fall with thesefive easy, toddler-friendly crafts.

All crafts require adult supervision.

Brown Bag Pumpkins
Do several of these fun crafts and use as table decorations. Or you could use them as party favor bags for a Halloween party.

You'll need:
Paper lunch sacks
Orange paint
Foam paintbrushes
Black marker
Paper bowls
Green pipe cleaners
Green construction paper
Scissors
Old newspapers

Here's what you do:
Lay the paper lunch sack down flat and draw a line on each side a little over halfway to the top. Let your child paint the bottom of the bag (a little over halfway to the top) orange with the foam paintbrush. When one side dries, paint the other side. Do several at one time. This helps minimize the waiting time for them to dry.

After they are dry on both sides and you have the bottom half orange and the top half still brown, open it up and help your child crush up old newspaper into small snowball-size shapes (toddlers and preschoolers love this part!). Stuff the lunch sack a little over half full.

After they are all stuffed a little over half full, close the top of the bag by twisting a green pipe cleaner tightly between the orange paint and the brown top.

Draw a couple of leaves on the green construction paper and cut them out. If your child is old enough, help him do this with blunt safety scissors. Attach them to the pipe cleaners, using the ends to poke a hole and twist the end of the pipe cleaner so the leaf will not fall off.
